  • Three Degrees! How exciting!

So I was thinking yesterday, I am separated from Taylor Lautner (way too young for me, I know, but I can still admire God's work) and Rob Pattison by THREE FREAKIN DEGREES people!
How exciting is that?  Here's how it works:

My husband's good friend, and my sorta friend Jimmy LeBlanc worked with Edi Gathegi in "Gone Baby Gone" back in 2007.

Edi Gathegi of course is Laurent in both "Twilight" and "New Moon".  Which means: THREE DEGREES.  Not that I could ever use this to my advantage, Jimmy hasn't been in any other movies, nor does he have any others on the horizon, unfortunately.

But I guess it also means I'm separated from a lot of other stars by three degrees:
    Brad Pitt
    Steve Carell
    Ben Stiller
    Shia LaBeouf
    Angelina Jolie
    Ben Affleck
    Matt Damon
    George Clooney
    Nicole Kidman
    Anthony Hopkins......

The list goes on and on.  I'm practically a celebrity myself and I didn't even know it!

  • Break-up letter to my T.V.

    Dear TV,
I'm terribly sorry I had to do this through a letter, but this will make us both a lot better off.  Well, at least I'll be better off... This note will be the last memory you'll ever have of me, I'm done with you because I decided to be with your best friend, Kindle.  He goes everywhere with me, and to be honest, is a lot better in bed.

I know that may seem kind of low, but really, you have let yourself go lately.  I don't mean to be harsh, but come on... "The Sing Off" is the last thing I truly enjoyed that was new for both of us.  "American Idol" and "The Biggest Loser" have both gotten old, plus you're going to be losing "Lost" and "Nip/Tuck" this year.  Have you thought about how hard that is on me?  I know you tried to get yourself into shape by losing a few pounds and becoming flat panel, but that was just a temporary fix, wasn't it?

I remember when we first met, you made all of these promises; cartoons, "The Mickey Mouse Club", and "Kids Incorporated".  And even back in the 90s you still kept me entertained and happy.  But then you started to change.  First, you took videos off of MTV, then you became all about "reality TV".  I mean, what IS that?!  I know we all change as we get older, but you've really started to get into some things I just don't care for.  And I can't be with you if you're going to continue.

You'd be much better off finding a person that can deal with annoying way you constantly change up your line up just when I'm getting into the groove of things (the Jay Leno/Conan debacle was a new low, even for you).  My husband seems to be into that kind of thing.   I'll give you his number if you're interested.

I'll definitely miss the good times:  the WB back in the late 90s (Dawson and Buffy still make me smile).  But from now on, it's just a memory.  Please don't give me a Buffy booty call on LOGO at 1am, it's just cheap and insulting to both of us.

I'm glad this is done and we're going separate directions for good. I think you'll find someone to love again. And hopefully we will still be close buddies.  I'll check back in a few weeks, after the Olympics to see how your doing.

    Forever Yours,
    Moi

  • Happy Birthday Edgar!

I'm not sure how many of you are familiar with the Poe Toaster, but I'll give you a quick summary.  Basically, every year on January 19th, early in the morning, someone dressed in all black (black cape, black top hat, black silver tipped cane, the works) shows up at Edgar Allen Poe's gravesite in Baltimore.  This "Poe Toaster" leaves three red roses, and a half empty bottle cognac, and sometimes a note.  The significance of the date is that it's Poe's birthday.  His notes sometimes say how he misses Poe, that he was a great poet, blah, blah, blah.
The thing is, no one really has any pictures of the guy.  He's been doing it since 1949, and he shows up in plan view of the crowd who gather to watch, but I've only been able to find one pic:

Naturally I find this fascinating in a macabre kind of way.  So I begged Brian last night to drive with me to Baltimore around midnight so we could wait for the Poe Toaster.  Well boy am I glad we didn't go, because he didn't show up!  This is the first time in 60 years that he hasn't shown!  I would have been PISSED OFF if I drove all the way to Baltimore and this nut job didn't show.  I mean, he could have at least sent the curator of the gravesite a note ahead of time saying he wasn't going to come.  People came from all over!  Oh well.  Brian's really happy because he promised we would go next year.  But I'm not taking any chances. F U Poe Toaster!

  • Gone Gaga

So I know a lot of people find Lady Gaga to be strange, whatever.  But you have to admit, her music is very catchy!  In fact, I've liked all of the songs she's released (my least favorite being Pokerface).

But more than her music, I'm sure we're all familiar with her outfits.  For me, her outfits are more of an artistic expression.  She's probably dressed crazy most of her life and now that she's got money, she can really dress as unique as she wants.  But there's some dude named Weikang Lu who has recreated some of Lady Gaga's most famous outfits on Barbie in hopes of sharing his appreciation for fashion with other doll lovers.

Here are some of my favorites:

I actually thought this hairdo was kind of cute.  I like bows.  And how cute does Barbie look!?

I burst out laughing when I saw this one.  How did he rig up those sparks to Barbie's boobs?  This guy is really talented!  And my favorite Barbie Gaga....

Barbie Beyonce and Barbie Gaga!  I love it!  So freakin cute!

  • Creativity at it's best

I got the idea for this post from "Featured Weblogs".

Can you remember your old screen names?  Mine were pretty lame, but mostly funny....

Backstreetgirl74 - Back in the late 90s, I was a HUGE fan of the Backstreet Boys.  I was trying to think of what my first Yahoo! email address should be, and my sister (genius that she is) suggested "backstreetgirl".  Well I was overjoyed!  Why hadn't I thought of that???  Well unfortunately, "Backstreetgirl" was taken.  So was "Backstreetgirl81" (year of my birth), "Backstreetgirl17" (my age at the time), and "Backstreetgirl7" (just a lucky number).  So I decided to pick two numbers at random.... bad idea!  People always asked me "what does the 74 stand for?" And eventually when I got to college, it was both embarassing and misleading because people started to believe I was born in '74.

GirlatGMU - Cute, isn't it?  I got the idea from an old roommate and her sister.  Her screen name was "Elizabeth_at_GMU" and her sister's was "GirlNamedJenn".  So I combined the two.  I used this screen name from my sophomore year until I graduated from Mason.

Emersoncutie - This was supposed to be along the same lines as the previous one, based on my school's name.  However, by the time I got to grad school and actually had to give out my e-mail address to my professional working classmates, it didn't turn out to be so cute after all.  This lasted for about two months.

Erinash - Ahhh, the good old screename based on your real name.  So uncreative, but what else can an adult do?  Pretty lame, but also not embarassing in the least.

Labellover81 - Last and certainly not least, my current screen name.  It's actually my favorite one!  It's based on a pet name my husband has for me.... Label Whore.  I decided that wasn't quite family friendly enough for Xanga ("RapeMe91" anyone??)  So I changed it up a bit.  After all, it describes my perfectly like a screen name should!

  • We're not all the same, and I'm ok with that... I think

Ok, so as you all know by now, I'm not a size 4.  Although I would love to be, and it's been a life-long struggle of mine, I just can't seem to shake my "natural" size.  So whatever, I've learned to accept it to a certain degree.  But now, it seems everybody and their mother wants the fashion industry to accept it as well.

V magazine has been making the news a lot lately because they're having a special "size" issue come out.  I guess that instead of featuring size 0 and size 2 models, they're going to feature alot of plus size models as well.  I guess this is kind of nice.  But to be honest, it really doesn't matter to me.  I'm so used to seeing super skinny models, that when I see a model that's a size 12, it's almost jarring.  But once I get over the fact that the model actually has curves, I kind of like it.  I mean, take a look for yourself:

Isn't she kind of sexy?  I mean, I would love to look like that in a bikini as much as I would love to look like Gisele in a bikini.  In fact, I might even be partial to this look over Gisele.  But that's just me.

Here's Crystal Renn modeling the same clothes as her skinny bitch counterpart.  I have to hand it to Crystal, she does look good!  In fact, in the picture below, I think she looks better than the small model.  Go girl!

  • Can you believe people still do this?

Ok, so I almost got into my first fist fight this weekend.  It was amazing really, Bri and I went to the movies to see "Daybreakers" on Saturday night.  There was this couple sitting behind us.  They were talking AT A NORMAL LEVEL during all of the previews.  I thought to myself, "ok, this is annoying, but I'll deal.  Technically they don't need to stop talking until the movies starts".  And guess what... THEY KEPT TALKING!

So to make a long story short, I turned around, asked nicely, they copped an attitude, I stood up and really started to cuss them out, the girl kep talking back to me, I told her let's take this outside, security was called, blah blah blah, Bri and I ended up leaving the movie, getting a refund and getting four free passes for the future, and the girl and her boyfriend had to move to an empty space in the theatre where they wouldn't disturb anyone with the incessent nonsensical chatter (she was talking about how she would make such a sexy vampire... Puh lease!!!  Everyone knows vampires are so 2009.  2010 is the year of the ghost)

Anyway, my point is, can you believe people actually talk in theatres nowadays?  I mean, isn't it common sense to not talk on the phone or to the person next to you (save for the occassional sarcastic comment)?  I guess not.  But secretly I was hoping to get into a fight with this girl.  I never knew how to fight until Brian taught me, and now I think I could actually do some damage to the average girl.  Hooray for me!

I was never a huge fan of Michele Rodriguez, but she's slowly growing on me.

  • Why are people so nasty?

Do you ever wonder how people become so gross?  I'm sure you remember people in college who just were complete pigs.  I'm talking DISGUSTING.  Well I'm sick of it.  I'm taking a stand.  No more dirtiness people!  To shame those who have graced me with their nastiness, I'm going to make a list of the grossest people I've ever known:

Becky - Little girl in the neighborhood growing up.  My sister babysat for her family once and they were so gross!  She said they kept a "gum bowl".  And in that bowl, they would place the gum they "hadn't quite finished chewing" so they could pick it  back up later to finish.  Problem was, they didn't always come back for it, so sometimes there would just be month old gum in the bottom of the bowl, along with the fresh gum on top.  EW!  They also let their cats have free reign of the house.  Bathrooms, kitchen, refrigerator, etc.

Brian (NOT my husband, just to clarify!)- Another kid from the neighborhood (we had some gross neighbors back in the day).  He would walk around picking his nose ALL THE TIME, and then he would eat it.

Cheri - She's famous with my middle school/high school peers.  She was visibly dirty.  I mean, dirt streaks on her face.  There's an old urban legend that one day she was walking out from the locker room, and a pair of dirty underwear fell out of the bottom of her jeans (streak marks and everything).  The gym teacher then proceeded to kick them out to the middle of the floor and demand who know who's dirty underwear was left in the gymnasium.  She ran to pick them up and put them in her backpack.

Amanda - My freshman year college roommate.  She's the reason I hate hippies.  She's so dirty she gives hippies a bad name.  I honestly believe she showered approximately 10 times during our ENTIRE freshman year of college.  And I'm not exaggerating one bit.   I could go into more horror stories of her dirty boyfriend and patchouli, but I'll spare you the details.

Pat - This woman sat in the cubicle next to me at work.  She told me once she couldn't find her work badge  because she had placed it on her ironing board, and then could never find it again.  I didn't understand that statement until I took a ride in her car once.  The outside was covered, I'm talking completely covered in bird crap.  And that was just the outside......  The inside floor was covered in cheerios.  There was a half eaten apple (that looked like it was several weeks old) in the backseat.  There were Wheat Thins all over the backseat, crumbled up tissues on the dashboard, used baby wipes in the passenger's seat and that's just getting started.  I have nightmares about Pat and her car to this day.

Dude at the Olive Garden - Possibly the nastiest eating experience I've ever had in my life.  Dude comes in with his family, and they just look dirty.  You know what kind of people I'm talking about.  Like they grew up in the swamp.  They sat down next to me and Bri and the smell was almost unbearable.  At the end of the meal, dude stands half-way up so he's hovering over his seat, and rips out the LOUDEST fart I've ever heard in my life.  I was sitting about two and a half feet away from him.  Bri and I looked at each other with our mouth's hanging open for about two seconds, and then I promptly ran out of the restaurant.  I was afraid of the stench that would follow.   I will never set foot in another Olive Garden as long as I live.

  • Promises, Promises

Does anyone ever actually keep their New Year's resolutions?  I have one every year (usually about weight loss) and I never seem to be able to do it.  This year I'm hoping to lose 10% of my weight by May 1.  I know that doesn't seem like alot, but it's much harder than you would think.

    Wish me luck people!
