  • Phone Schmone

I'm not a HUGE technology person.  I mean, I do like some gadgets.  I have an iPod touch and an iPod nano, Brian and I own two laptops (one for each of us), I love my Kindle.  So I guess I like some stuff.  But when it comes to phones, I'm just not on the up and up.  I never ever use my phone (ok that's a small exaggeration.  I use an average of 8 minutes a month).  I like to text, so FYI, either call my home phone or text me if you expect a response.  And definitely DON'T leave a message.  I usually check my voicemail about every two or three weeks.  Again, with the exception of my birthday

All that being said, I did get a new phone last night.  The poor guy working at Sprint tried to sell me the latest and greatest, but I said "look dude, I rarely talk on the phone, and I text with my husband sometimes, so those are all of the features I need.  But I do need for it to be pink."  So I ended up with this beauty.  For free!!!!!!

  • Relapse

Feeling better today, but it's because I bought something.  I'm ashamed and I'm sorry.  God this blog is becoming depressing, I guess it will stay that way until I kick this addiction of mine.  I want to thank Allison for her encouraging words.  I'm sorry if I disappointed you.  I've definitely disappointed myself.

  • Shopping Withdrawals

I haven't written in a while because I've been in a foul mood lately.  No, it's not the weather, it's not the time of year, it's not my family or my upcoming trip to Boston.  It's shopping withdrawal.  Yes, I know how silly that sounds, but for those of you who snicker when you read this, I don't think you understand just how much of an addiction I'm dealing with.
I'm not physically sick, but mentally I've been moderately depressed.  I lie in bed most nights, surfing the net and watching TV.  I've stopped talking to my sister as much as we used to (we used to call each other at least 4 times a day, now I'm down to call her 4 times a week).  It's sad really.  I wish I could snap out of it.  Or as my sister suggested, channel my energy into something else, but there's nothing else that I want to do.  I don't have the energy to exercise.  I wish I did.
This is the bag I want:

It's Valentino and costs $2,000.  Yes, I know that's ridiculous.  But it's beautiful and would make me happy.  Why?  I don't know.  I just know that my life would be complete once I had it in my arms.

  • Dirty Bag

Do I have a nasty mind?  Am I the only one who sees what I see when I look at this bag?  And no, it's not supposed to look like that particular body part.

  • Ashley in Wonderland

So the next two stops on my trip were in Freeport Bahamas (which I recommend to everyone!) and Nassau Bahamas.  Let me tell you right away, Nassau was quite a challenge for me.  The first thing I literally saw when I stepped off the ship was a big old David Yurman store.

You can't see it in this picture, but trust me, it was there.  And guess what... the store in the Bahamas is allowed to haggle!!!  I wanted this necklace

and they were willing to take 20% off.  I mean, that would have made it $800,  but that's still 20% that I never would have gotten in the U.S.  So I walked around Nassau for a little while with my mom and made the strong decision that I would NOT purchase the necklace (go ahead and applaud me right here).  I was so proud of myself!

The next stop was in Freeport.  Like I said, I recommend the Grand Bahama island to everyone.  It was much more laid back than the capital.  Also, I didn't feel like all of the cab drivers were undressing me with their eyes.  Here's a picture of a resort that I went to.  It was a little chilly that day, but I still my toes in the beautiful water.

There was even an Irish pub that I told Brian we would have to check out!

  • So much to say...

Ok, so by now, I think all of my loyal blog readers (all four of you) know that I went on vacation with my mom last week.  We went on a seven day cruise from Baltimore.  We stopped in Port Canaveral, Florida; Nassau Bahamas, and Freeport, Bahamas.  It's going to take me awhile to get through the whole thing, so I'll probably spend most of the week blogging about it.  First things first:  the cruise ship and Disney World.
The boat was MASSIVE!  Here's a pic of when we first left:

Yes, there was a blizzard the day before, but we managed to get to Baltimore just fine.  The boat was decorated kind of like a Renaissance theme.  It was kind of pretty, but kind of innapropriate for children in some areas (IMO).  I mean, here's an example of the kind of things that would be on the walls....

    Am I over reacting?

Anyway, moving onto Disney World.  My friend Kara and I went and it was freakin freezing!  We ended up buying matching Mickey Mouse shirts to wear around the park.

Can I just say, for the record, that Disney World kind of sucked?  I mean, last time I was there, I was 7 and it was AWESOME!  But this time, I walked around and was pretty disappointed.  The highlight was definitely getting a picture with Daisy Duck (love those heels!)   And the spinning tea cups.  Oh well, at least I did manage to get some cute gifts for my nephews.

  • Bahama Mama

I had a small set back today.  I bought two pairs of socks.  They were on clearance at Ann Taylor for $2.50 each.  Though in my circumstances, price doesn't matter.  I shouldn't have bought the socks, but I was looking for a fix.  I am back on the wagon though.
I leave for my cruise with my mama in three days.  The first stop is in Orlando, and the last two stops are in the Bahamas.  I'm pretty excited.  As you can imagine, a lot of thought has gone into my wardrobe.  I know what you're thinking... "how can she be planning not to buy any stuff on vacation?"  Well the good news is, I hate touristy crap.  Can you picture me in a synthetic blend tie dye t-shirt with "Bahamas" in comic sans scrawled across the front?  I think not.
So anyway, hopefully the upcoming blizzard won't affect my travel plans too much!  I'll be sure to take tons of pictures and post them here when I get back... Miss me!

  • My name is Ashley, and I'm a shopaholic

Today is the first day of the rest of my life.  I'm going to tackle my shopping addiction.  My sister is going to help me.  Please be warned, I'm taking this very seriously.  Here's my promise to myself:
    - I will not buy items to make myself happy.
    - I will not look to material things for my self worth.
    - I will pay down my credit card balance to $0 by March 2011.
    - I will not buy anything for the next two weeks.

I know what you're thinking, why only two weeks?  Well I need to do this in baby steps.  My addiction is so extreme, that it doesn't work when I say "I'm not buying anything ever again."  Cold turkey would not work on me.  And here's the biggest piece.  I'm going to publicly admit what my credit card balance is...

    $7,808.36

Yes, I know that's shameful, but I also know I can pay this off by the time I'm 30, no problem.  I want to be debt free in my 30s!  Here's to my first step!

    Goodbye old friend....

  • I'm lovin it!

I have a confession.  I like McDonald's.  I always have.  I like their breakfast and their lunch menu.  I like their coffee, their iced coffee, and their milkshakes.  I like their french fries (fresh and hot!) and I like their cheeseburgers.  Does that make me lame?  Everyone seems  to think of McDonald's as one of the worst fast food chains, but I would put them up there right underneath Popeye's and Chick Fil-A.  So kill me!

What's my favorite item on the McDonald's menu you ask?  It's a toss up between the bacon, egg and cheese biscuit, or a good old fashioned sausage biscuit.  Both incredibly fattening, but I love it!
