Beyonce, Kelly, and Michelle vs. T-boz, Chilli, and Left Eye: Who was better?
TLC vs. Destiny’s Child
Maybe it’s the age difference, but my husband (for some reason) thinks TLC was a better girl group than Destiny’s Child.
To be honest, I was never a big fan of TLC. They had a few songs that were catchy:
-Creep
-No Scrubs (come on, it was corny, but you know you would listen to it if it came on the radio)
-Baby, Baby, BabyBut they also had some songs I HATED. Two in particular: “Waterfalls” and “Unpretty”.
Those songs with a “moral” message. Come on, puh-lease! Anyone ever notice that the message of “Unpretty” is to appreciate your natural beauty, but in the video they’re all decked out with weaves and nails (see below)
And what’s up with the sign language? Is that supposed to be a message to deaf people that they are beautiful and shouldn’t worry about not being able to hear the music? And don’t even get me started on the early days of Left Eye wearing a condom on her face…
I know she’s deceased, but that’s just plain nasty, and I’ll be the first to say it!
On the other hand, Destiny’s Child was the $HIT!!!
Every song, from early days with “No, No, No” to the very end with “Soldier” was a good jam along song. I can’t even name a favorite because they were all so good! “Independent Women” (The shoes on my feet, I bought it!), “Say My Name”, “Emotion”. Heck, I even loved “Bootylicious”. see below:You gotta love the nod to Stevie Nicks in the beginning with the sampling of “Edge of Seventeen”. Genius!!!
The only thing I have a small problem with, are the HIDEOUS Tina Knowles outfits. I mean, some of those getups were truly tragic:
But to be honest, I even look back at the terrible wardrobes with fondness and their inexplicable ability to get away with it. Anyway, hands down,
DESTINY’S CHILD WINS!

I still LOVE “Creep” and I will jam to “No Scrubs”. I also HATE “Waterfalls” and I hate that video, too. I remember when “Independent Women” came out and it was awesome. I even saw that stupid movie because I liked the song so much. But, DC had all of that drama in the beginning with kicking out members and stuff. TLC never went through that. And now I really like T-Boz since she was on “Celebrity Apprentice”. I guess it’s a draw for me.
No matter which group you like better – it’s an undeniable fact that those Tina Knowles costumes were truly awful.

@Big Sis - What do you mean TLC never went through that? Don’t you remember when Left Eye challanged T-Boz and Chili to a “rap off” or something stupid like that? Don’t you remember when Left Eye went crazy and set her boyfriend’s house on fire? They DEFINITELY had drama!

JUST HANDS DOWN, TLC HAD MORE CHARISMA, STYLE, SWAG, AND THEIR CHEMISTRY WAS JUST UNDENIABLE. IM READY FOR THEM TO COME BACK OUT!

Tlc was the real deal, talk about issues, Dc talked about money, cars, butts. TLC kept it real.
And even though your complaining about unpretty being a hyprocrypt song u failled to realize that even though they were encouraging natural beauty they were also encouraging independence. “You can buy your hair if it won’t grow, you can fix your nose if you said so” But the MAIN message that you were suppose to recieve but obviously didnt was that IT IS OKAY TO HAVE FAKE NAILS, HAIR, ETC as long as you LOOK INSIDE and know who you really are! Left eye was the best female rapper, her raps were poetry, may she rest in heavonly peace.
every song tlc made had heart to it, and some of them even had soul. They are and forever will be the greatesst group.(Dont forget it)
